Back with a bang

HP makes a loud comeback, though we’re still waiting for more new consumer goodies!

Relatively quiet in Malaysia till the big launch of the HP OMEN late last year, HP is ending Q1 of 2015 with the biggest launch we’ve seen from it in the longest time, if not ever. In a grand reveal that involved a flying drone, HP pulled the veil back on a slew of commercial devices that it says will transform our work experience. Falling under mobility solutions, a total of eight new devices, accompanying ecosystem of accessories, new printers, and the roll out of HP’s Managed Print Specialist in Malaysia via channel partners.

On the PC side to begin with, HP not only announced two new business notebooks in the form of the two-in-one HP Elite x2 1011 G1 and the HP EliteBook 1020, but also a series of tablets – the HP Pro Slate 8 and 12; HP Pro Tablet 408 G1; HP Pro Tablet 10 EE (Windows OS) and HP Pro Slate 10 EE (Android OS); HP ElitePad 1000 G2 Healthcare Tablet; HP ElitePad 1000 G2 Rugged Tablet; and HP Retail Case for ElitePad.

Mobility is certainly key in today’s working environment, so HP has did its research and development to come up with these devices for the modern business worker. The highlight was clearly HP EliteBook 1020, which is so light (weighs about 1KG) and was flown in to the hall via a flying drone.

Taking centre stage to talk about the new devices, Nick Lazaridis who is Senior Vice President of Printing & Personal Systems, as well as Managing Director of HP APAC & Japan, says that the way we work are changing. “Mobile devices are changing how we live and work, and they pose significant challenges to IT departments who have to support their now mobile workforces while keeping corporate data managed and secure,” he says. He then adds: “Our devices feature built-in security, manageability, and durability packaged in innovative, stylish designs that end users crave. When paired with our ISVs’ robust solutions, HP has created an ecosystem that helps companies powerfully and securely harness the promise of mobility.”
