Back To School On The 24th Of June For SPM & STPM Students; Goodbye Clear Congestion Free Roads

In news that most kids were probably dreading, Education Minister Dr. Mohd Radzi bin Md Jidin has announced that schools nationwide will be reopen on the 24th of June, which is kinda weird cuz it’s a Wednesday but hey what do I know, right?

It’s worth noting that this only applies for students who will be sitting for SVM, STMP, SPM, STAM, and equivalent international examinations. This essentially means that everyone from standard 1 to form 4 will carry on with E-learning.

As you’d expect, there will be strict SOPs in place come the 24th of June, with classrooms to remain limited to just 20 students at the very most. On top of that, schools will only be allowed to operate at limited hours. Single session schools will be allowed to operate from 7am-4pm whilst double session schools will be allowed to run from 7am-645pm.

While students will be glad to see their friends again after almost three months, they won’t be returning to the same dynamic they left behind.

For starters, everyone’s favourite part of school is set to be staggered. That’s right, i’m talking about recess. Food and drinks will come pre packed by canteen operators and students will only be allowed to eat in their classrooms after making their purchases.

On top of that, face to face co-curricular activities, sports, and large gatherings have all been forbidden. As has become the norm for everyone lately, students will be required to ensure a 1-metre social distance at all times.

Sounds horrible, I know. But safety is of the utmost concern here and you’ve got to commend the Ministry here for coming up with something to allow for students to return to school. All that being said, the reopening of schools unfortunately also mark the return of congestion on the roads.

One of the best things about the new normal was the lack of traffic jams, but all good things come to an end I guess.
