Admit it, everyone knows an uncle or auntie who is always playing Candy Crush. If you don’t then they’re probably your mom or dad, and you never realised it was weird cos you grew up with that, so you think it’s normal parents are addicted to Candy Crush.
Well it looks like it’s their time to shine, as mobile developer King is adding free unlimited lives to the Candy Crush Saga franchise! That’s right, they’re removing their horrible timer which makes you PAY to play if you’ve failed too many levels.
Their new giveaway is going to last till April 5, and is part of the World Health Organisation partnership, #PlayApartTogether campaign. The campaign looks to promote staying in and playing video games, as a form of social distancing and also provides guidelines for safety through video games.
The games included in this update will be: Candy Crush Saga, Candy Crush Soda Saga, Candy Crush Jelly Saga, Candy Crush Friends Saga, Farm Heroes Saga, Bubble Witch 3 Saga, and Pet Rescue Saga.
That’s a lot of Candy Crush games, like, do you need that many? They are essentially the same games, except they’re not CANDY. I’ll never understand the appeal, but hey, maybe I’m missing out on match-3 puzzler goodness.
That’s all good and fun but come on, mechanics like this are totally unnecessary. You’re limiting the amount of time someone can play the game, by punishing them to not be able to play if they fail, and then charging them to continue playing. It’s ridiculous.
But hey, hopefully this makes the lockdown in Malaysia and around the World easier to bear with.
