The list of big name players dipping into the Esports market continues
Fresh off the news of Adidas partnership with Grow uP eSports, telco giant AT&T has secured its first ever Esports team sponsorship with Cloud9. The North American Esports organization boasts a following of over 17.4 million across various social channels and is one of the biggest Esports organizations around, with a roster of 12 teams across different platforms including League of Legends, CS:GO and PUBG.
For AT&T, the aim of the partnership is to “grow its relationships with new and existing customers” through an increasingly involved role in the Esports community. The telecommunications giant already broke into the scene last year with their involvement in the ESL competitions at the E3 gaming expo, they then expanded their presence by working with Razer on their Razer Phone series as well as signing on with the NBA 2K League as a sponsor. A sponsorship with an organization of stature like Cloud9 seems like the logical next step.
As a result of the sponsorship, AT&T will now be the presenting sponsor of Cloud9’s upcoming weekly digital series entitled ‘The Nines’. The show will cover the teams exploits in the world of gaming, from team highlights to player profiles and insight into tournaments. It will be aired on Cloud9’s digital platforms.
Jack Etienne, CEO & Owner of Cloud9 discussed the partnership: “Teaming up with a company like AT&T, who has always prided itself on being ahead of the curve, is a tremendous moment for the whole C9 organization. With what AT&T is bringing us, we’re going to be able to bring the fans so much more – more content, more access, more memes, and more championships. I can’t wait to see the incredible things we’ll do together.”
With the introduction of 5G in the near future, AT&Ts involvement in Esports is only going to grow. This sponsorship will without a doubt prove to be of great value to both them and Cloud9.
