Ever since the success of Asus Zenfone 2, we have seen quite a few other phones from that series, and now with the Asus Zenfone Selfie, they have reached another market of users who are into the selfie trend.
Let us take a selfie
Since the Zenfone Selfie boasts a 13MP front camera with dual LED flash, we did multiple tests with it. The Zenfone Selfie uses the same technology and features in the Zenfone 2, which delivers good low light performance for both the rear and front 13MP cameras. Both cameras can use all the pre-programmed scenes to give your photos some fun effects, or use automatic post processing such as beautify and HDR. As for the LED lighting, the torch and flash functions does make selfies look pretty decent even in really dark places. And the best thing about it is that you don’t look like a frightened cat in headlights.
Some Sort of Stuttering
However, the 3GB of RAM feels inadequate for some reason. Navigating through apps can be a little laggy at times, and I had to regularly clear my RAM and close background apps to ensure that the phone runs smoothly. It is a little annoying but other than that, the ZEN UI is quite user friendly. With an app drawer and smart sorting, your apps are always organised neatly for easy access.
Size does matter
Although the screen size for the Zenfone Selfie is the same as the Zenfone 2, the size of the device is slightly larger to accommodate the larger front camera. The increased height makes it even harder to press the power button all the way at the top, but with ZenMotion I can wake the screen by double tapping instead of having to strain a finger to reach it.
All rounded package
For the price you can get for the Zenfone Selfie, it is no wonder why many will be attracted to it. The device comes in lovely colours for its removable back cover, and has dual SIM slots on top of microSD card support for your storage needs. Photos are quite decent and although it gets a little slow at times, it is a pretty good smartphone overall.
