COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2014 has all sorts of awesome but ASUS takes the cake with the unveiling of its Transformer Book V. One cannot imagine what else could top that until the gaming arm of the same brand decided to ramp up the wow factor with the introduction of its new gaming desktop PC series and ultra-portable notebook for gamers. Known as the G20 PC, GR8 gaming console PC, and 4K-ready GX500 gaming notebook respectively, all three are the epitome of empowered devices made solely to provide the best gaming experience.
As everyone knows the ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand is synonymous with only one thing – gaming. It is this fundamental that the Taiwanese brand banks on as it puts out the new entries into its hardcore gamer range.
“For our ROG range, it is all about understanding the gamer within. In our efforts to search for the incredible, we also keep a sharp look out for the most epic. It is in our blood to strive for the ultimate power and beauty!” says Jonney Shih, CEO, Chairman, and President of ASUS.
The Big Boss of ASUS opened the ROG main event, the second press conference for ASUS at COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2014, with Joe Hsieh, Corporate Vice President and General Manager, Motherboard and Desktop System Business Unit, ASUS; Jackie Hsu, Corporate Vice President and General Manager, Worldwide Sales, Open Platform Business Group, ASUS; and Lisa Graff, Vice President, Desktop Client Platforms Group, Intel.
Graff is surprise guest of Shih and when she had been invited onto stage she discussed about Intel’s upcoming Haswell Refresh – codenamed Devil’s Canyon, ahead of the Intel keynote that is taking place at Computex.
“We’ve increased our investment in PC gaming micro-processors and products. Soon, we will have four systems that are increasing overall capabilities and performance from the low-end to the highest performance level. This includes the soon-to-be unveiled Broadwell, which will work with the new 9-Series chipsets,” Graff shares.
Hsieh and Hsu, who came right after Graff, moved to quickly reinforce her statement that Intel is re-dedicating itself to drive development for gaming performance, by putting on a power-packed show as they introduce the new ASUS ROG devices.
Besides the G20, GR8, which are ready for Valve’s upcoming SteamBox concept as well, and GX500, which are awesome wonders in their own right, Hsieh also introduces two new Intel-based gaming motherboards – the ASUS ROG Maximus VII Formula Z97 and ROG Maximus VII Impact Z97n Mini-ITX.
“Our new ROG Intel gaming motherboards reinforces our efforts to produce the best gaming hardware and fully complements the epic devices we have come up with. We want to go beyond the norm and are all for making gaming personal for our users,” says Hsieh.
Hsu, meanwhile, shows-off ASUS’ latest hardcore gaming peripherals – the ROG GK2000 Gaming Keyboard and ROG Gladius Gaming Mouse, alongside the new ROG Swift PG278Q WQHD Gaming Monitor, AMD-based ROG Crossblade Ranger FM2+ gaming motherboard, and the water-cooled AMD-powered Dual R9 290X ROG ARES III.
While the peripherals impress many with the edge-to-edge monitor raising more than a few eyebrows, the ARES III had been the one to take the cake. It is, by far, the largest GPU card ever developed, featuring hand-carved detailing and an exquisite metal-type chassis that has a superbly cool finish. According to Hsu, there ARES III is a limited edition type with only 500 expected to be made for sale. That isn’t just exclusive…it has already attained legendary status!
