ASUS Republic of Gamers have announced the launching of a Dota 2 tournament: the ROG Conquest Penang State Championship 2018. 64 Dota 2 teams of four aspiring gamers each will compete for a total prize pool of RM 20,000. The Grand Final will be on the 28th- 29th April 2018 and will at The Top, Komtar, Penang.

ROG hopes to provide multiple platforms for Malaysian gamers to come witness the journey of each champion. Their plans include the ROG Masters, ROG Join The Republic, and the new ROG Conquest.

“Malaysian eSports player have been at the forefront of major international competitions. A focused state championship will be the necessary programs to accommodate the growing talent pools in each state,” says Leo Tseng, Country Manager of ASUS Malaysia. He adds that Republic of Gamers remain dedicated to help gamers play their best by building hardware for them. If anything, they are happy to support the growth of the local eSports scene.

The Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) are one of the event organisers. The Penang ICT Association (PICTA) are also supporting the tournament.

“With the budget allocation of RM1 million from Penang state Government, PYDC as the executor will be providing the opportunity and platform to promote e-sports as one of the youth initiatives,” says Teng Kok Liang, CEO of PYDC.
