More details have surfaced regarding Apple’s rumoured over-ear headphones, particularly on its specifications and settings.

As reported by 9to5Mac, the “AirPods Studio” may include a head-and-neck detection sensor. Similar to the AirPod’s ear detection sensor, this feature will likely pause audio if it isn’t on your head or neck.

Another notable feature is that the headphones may not have a specific left or right cup, so there’s no “wrong” way of wearing it.

Of course, it’s reported that there will be sensors to properly detect and route the audio channels accordingly. So don’t worry, you’ll still hear Bohemian Rhapsody’s “little high, little low” on the left first.

It goes without saying that the AirPods Studio will have Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode, just like the AirPods Pro. Users can switch between the two modes depending on their environment.

A welcome feature for the over-ear headphones is reportedly the inclusion of custom EQ settings. This changes things, as most other headphone makers don’t provide this option.

The settings will reportedly provide tweaks ranging from “low, medium, and high” frequency adjustments. It’s unclear, however, if the EQ settings will provide the kind of range Apple’s Music app does. I can only hope it does, as that could truly overhaul everyone’s music listening experience.

Apart from these features, the headphones are reportedly coming in two variants. One variant will use leather fabrics, while another uses lighter materials for fitness use. Apple is apparently testing a modular design with exchangeable magnetic pads.
