Apple has a new subscription model, allowing you to pay US$ 99 a month for a 12-month subscription.
At the moment, subscribers are paying $9.99 every month, or RM14.90 a month in Malaysia. The family plans come at $14.99 for a family plan (RM22.90/month), with an additional student plan that is $4.99 per month(not available in Malaysia). However, it seems that US subscribers are starting to see an extra option for US$99 for a 12-month subscription.
As reported by TechCrunch, the setting is quite buried – looks like Apple doesn’t really want you to know you can pay less. “We tried different scenarios, and it was quite hard to find the new annual plan — but it’s real.” they wrote.
The option is not available for new subscribers, but an existing subscriber can switch their plan in the membership settings. New users would have to purchase a monthly subscription and then switch.
We haven’t tested it out for ourselves, and we don’t know if Malaysia has this option yet or how much it would be in Ringgit – but here are the details from TechCrunch on how to access it.
“First, you need to open the App Store app and scroll to the very bottom of the Featured tab. Then tap on your Apple ID, enter your password and tap on “View Apple ID.” Finally, tap on the Subscriptions button and you can access your Apple Music membership settings. Here’s what it looks like (prices may vary depending on your country):”
