Apple is Testing the Foldable Screen for the Upcoming iPhone

Apple is undoubtedly, one of the most famous smartphone brands in the world. Despite the controversies alleged around the brand and the products, people are still buying them for the personal purposes. Even that, they also always keep up on tracks to make sure they know what the consumers are looking for in their iPhones.

Apple is reportedly to begin working on the development for foldable iPhone that may be debuting in future. According to Bloomberg, the California-based company has developed the prototype for the foldable screens for internal testing but hasn’t made it solid to launch it.

The reports also state that the testing is similar to those from Samsung which have invisible hinges with the electronics behind the display which is not like Microsoft’s Surface Duo that have a visible hinge separating two panels.

A foldable iPhone would let Apple to make larger screen devices in a more compact package just like Samsung’s Galaxy Fold, the Motorola Razr reboot and other brands from Chinese companies including Huawei Technologies Co. Apple also has discussed a number of screen sizes, including one that unfolds to a similar size as the 6.7-inch display on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Though there are no official size of the screen to be announced yet.

As a comparison, Huawei also has manufactured the foldable smartphones to which its screens can be folded exteriorly as for Samsung, the Galaxy Fold can be folded from the inside. The prototype from Oppo anyway is featuring a rolling OLED display during its Inno Day 2020 event back in November 2020. LG, joining the team at this year’s virtual Consumer Electronics Show with the rollable smartphones, LG Rollable.

Anyway, it’s an iPhone so there must be something more. Due to the current pandemic and how everyone has no choice but to wear a mask, Apple brought back the Touch ID with its upgrade; an in-screen fingerprint reader. The facial recognition, however, is still not going to be removed.

The discussion also includes removing the charging port for some iPhone models in favor of wireless charging. This is because of the shift to magnetic MagSafe charging system with the iPhone 12, in addition to removing the charging brick from the iPhone box last year.

As a summary, foldable smartphone is not exactly a very latest innovation but it is surely a good thing to see in future. Apple keep tracks with the development of the other brands resembles their willingness to stay update with consumer’s needs and trends in technology itself. It is just up to us to see who is the better player in this game.
