MSC Malaysia rounds off 2014 with rousing 15th MSC Malaysia APICTA Awards.

“Societies advance through innovation every bit as much as economies do”. That quote is attributed to Geoff Mullen, the Chief Executive of UK’s National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts (NESTA). The people at the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) and the Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia (PIKOM) have similar views as they continuously organise events that reflect such thoughts. This is also encapsulated in the recently held 15th annual APICTA Awards, an event that celebrates the best home-grown digital innovation talents.
Out of 19 different categories, 17 individual category winners and 15 merit recipients are set to be recognised in their respective categories which included ‘Best of Industrial Applications’, ‘Best of retail and supply managements’, and ‘Best of Sustainability and Enviroment Technology’.

Notable award winners include University Malaysia Perlis in the category of ‘Best of Communication Applications’ for their work on the ZCC-OCDMA Code for Symmetric Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) in Access Network , Multimedia University in the category of ‘Best of Tertiary Student Project – Creative Multimedia’ for their work on White Collar Time, as well as Foon Yew High School in the category of ‘Best of Secondary Student Project’ for their work on Dotshub.
All MSC Malaysia APICTA Winners and Merit recipients will represent Malaysia at the International APICTA Awards that will be held in Jakarta on November 27th to November 30th, 2014.

“Over the years, the MSC Malaysia APICTA has inspired Malaysians to optimize their talent for the global stage. As we strive to advance the country towards a developed digital economy by 2020 to achieve increased wealth, enhanced productivity and improved standards of living, the MSC Malaysia APICTA programme aims to support this effort by inspiring innovation and creativity through ICT towards achieving global excellence and competitiveness,” says Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali, Chairman of MDeC.
In order to facilitate these objectives, Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali further states that MSC Malaysia APCITA will work with strategic partners to develop the award recipients further for the world stage.
