After being bought back by Elon Musk to be put under his arms again, Solar City faces a dim future as it doesn’t provide any economical benefits for home users because battery powered households are expensive. The reason for this purchase is to combine Solar Power charging and Tesla’s batteries.

For business however, solar powered rooftops can consume energy during sunny days and release them for good use at night time. “We are aligning with what we believe is the most innovative manufacturer and product developer in the world,” said spokesman Jonathan Bass, referring to Tesla. The combined company, he said, will be able “to accelerate the adoption of clean energy with a one-stop shop for renewable energy and battery storage.” However, solar still remains a tiny industry and this combination is said to be ahead of its time.
