The creation of augmented reality (AR) apps have really made the world a little bit more exciting, opening the doors to many new possibilities –like with Apple’s ARKit. The app arrived just a little bit sooner before IKEA got a chance to launch its own ARKit-powered app.
Asher Vollmer first revealed his ARKit experiment in Twitter, showing a fully functioning AR app that lets you arrange furniture in the real world. In just under a minute, the app was able to populate an empty space with realistic-looking furniture, plants and even a working place. Imagine the amount of time and energy that could be saved by just moving a finger and you will still get to see how the room will look like.
Been playing around with #ARKit lately and I’m really impressed with it! I built a little tool for laying out rooms ???? pic.twitter.com/oughpP2Oxk

The array of options on Vollmer’s app also allows him to change the size of a piece of furniture in line with real world dimentions, making this a perfect tool for decorators, realtors and even architects. However, it is still unclear of when this app will be made available to the public.
