AMD Announces 2nd Generation Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX and 2920X

AMD plans on releasing the new Ryzen Threadripper processors and aims to have them on shelves by end of October 2018. This is a follow up to the earlier release of the Threadripper 2990WX and 2950X which was launched in August 2018.

The Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX comes with 24 processor cores and 48 threads is designed for media creators and innovators and the intense workloads that they require. The 2920X is designed for power enthusiasts and gamers with 12 processor cores and 24 threads.

Also released were some software updates which increase game performance in games when using the Ryzen Threadripper processor.

The biggest update is probably the release of the AMD Dynamic Local Mode software specifically designed for Ryzen Threadripper WX Series. The software is designed to optimise application performance by ensuring the more demanding threads get preferential time on the processor cores with local memory.
