Acer unveils its first ever education-based tablet, the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 that will be running with Chrome OS, the first education tablet to do so. These tablets will be used in K-12 classrooms, giving students the speed, simplicity and usability of the Chrome OS in a tablet.
For starters, the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 is purely made for education purposes. With that said, the Chrome OS makes it easy for updates, app configuration as well as manage extensions and policies with the Chrome Education License. Thanks to its multiple-user sign-ins, the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 can be shared throughout the campus. This gives students quick and easier access to their work via Gmail and Google Drive.
The Acer Chromebook Tab 10 was made for multipurpose usage, thanks to its OP1 Processor that integrates dual-core Cortex-A72 and quad-core Cortex-A53 processors. It is backed up with 4GB RAM and 32GB of on-board storage space. Connectivity options are also aplenty with Bluetooth v4.1 and 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi connectivity. To charge and connect the Acer Chromebook Tab 10, it uses a USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1 port. There is also a 3.5 mm headphone jack along with a microSD card reader.
To ensure studies are kept at an optimal level, the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 comes with a 9.7-inch QXGA IPS display with 2,048 x 1,536 pixel resolution at 264 pixels per inch (ppi). It weighs at only 550 g, thanks to its lightweight and compact design. This allows it to be moved around the campus with ease.
There is also a 2-megapixel HD front-facing camera with dual speakers and microphone to make Google Hangouts better. Aside from that, there is also a 5-megapixel rear camera to capture images and record videos. The Acer Chromebook Tab 10 also comes with a Wacom EMR stylus, providing better learning opportunities and interaction. It also comes with a long-lasting battery life, up to nine hours on a single charge.
Augmented reality (AR) is also something the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 supports, allowing students to experience a new way of learning with Expedition AR. It’s Google’s AR technology that can map out a classroom to provide 3D AR objects around the mapped surrounding, making a conventional class new and exciting.
The Acer Chromebook Tab 10 will be available come April 2018 with a starting price of US$329 (approx. RM1,269.71).
