Yes! its a freaking six inch smartphone from the A series family, Samsung has made the all glass and metal Galaxy A9 available for the Chinese market at a launch party recently. Targeted at the burgeoning middle class of the billion plus population, the A series of smartphones are highly spec’d phones with a mid-range price point. Since the introduction of the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S range for the premium market the once dominant brand across all sector has now lost ground to rising Chinese brands like Huawei, Lenovo, Xiaomi and OPPO. With the newly christened A series launched at enemy turf, Samsung hopes to regain superiority back in the volume driven segment

Brand Power

The new A9 is the largest in its class, coming in at a whopping 6.0″ the phone looks mammoth comparatively to its sibling A7 which stands at 5.5″ while the A3 a minuscule 5.2″. For those with small palms the phone will be a challenge to hold, it will take getting used to, but the super Amoled display with 2.5D curved display gives an extraordinary viewing pleasure, this is where the larger size makes its worth. Samsung is throwing its weight back into the congested mid-range smartphone segment, this will surely spook the competition with strong brand power and unlimited marketing budget, the Galaxy A9 will have performance driven audience gravitate towards the phone, as long as the price point is right.

As for the features, it is fitted with a 13 megapixel rear facing camera that comes with OIS and f/1.9 aperture, the front has a commendable 8 megapixel. The device is really thin make no mistake about that, slipping in at a meager 7.4mm and whats surprising is despite the thinness the engineers have managed to pump up battery life with an enormous 4000 mAh battery however the sacrifice is…its not removable.

The device operates on Android 5.1.1 and is powered by a Octa-Core Snapdragon 652 processor with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, unlike the premium range the A9 and its siblings has micro SD slot that supports up to 128GB. Fingerprint scanner is incorporated into the home button for security and ready for Samsung Pay.

Samsung showcased all A series models at the launch, however again pricing is not available and no indication on its availability in other parts of the world.
