A National Treasure TV Series Is Under Development For Disney+

It’s been recently announced that a National Treasure TV series is undergoing works for the Disney+ streaming service.

Based on a recent interview by Collider with Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of the franchise. He revealed that on top of developing the third movie, there will also be a TV series with a different cast.

Bruckheimer said, “We’re certainly working on one [National Treasure] for streaming and we’re working on one for the big screen.

“Hopefully, they’ll both come together and we’ll bring you another National Treasure, but they’re both very active.”

He also mentioned the cast for the third film will be the same from previous movies. The cast for its TV series will bring much younger faces onscreen, though the concept is the same.

National Treasure 3’s script is currently being written by Chris Bremner. Bremner wrote the script for Bad Boys For Life and was well-received compared to its predecessors.

Surprisingly, though, Bruckheimer says the TV series is further along in development than the film.

“We have a pilot script done and an outline of the future episodes,” he said.

No other details were shared regarding the TV series, so its story and cast are still up in the air. Though, since Bruckheimer mentioned the concept is the same, it’s possible we’ll see brand new characters that’ll go through the adventures Nicholas Cage did alongside other cast members in the films.

It’s either that, or it might quite possibly act as a prequel series with a younger version of Cage’s character. Hopefully, it won’t be long before we learn more details about the TV series and movie.
