After introducing its latest flagships, the Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 Pro, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer turns out attention to another smartphone in its lineup with the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS. This is the third time Huawei has collaborated with the luxury German sports car brand to introduce another love-child into the mix.
The Huawei Mate RS will feature Porsche’s signature craftsmen paired with the innovative technology Huawei is known for. It features a similar design concept like the Mate 10 Pro but will come with the Leica triple lens setup, much like the P20 Pro. The camera carries a combined 40-megapixel RGB sensor technology that is coupled with a 5x hybrid zoom. The camera will also feature the world’s first artificial intelligence (AI) image stabilisation, which is also found on both the P20 and P20 Pro. The front-facing camera is also a 24-megapixel shooter for greater selfies.
While it does come with a fingerprint reader on the back, there is also an in-screen fingerprint. This allows you to unlock your device with a simple touch on the screen. You can also wake up the device by simply floating your finger above the display.
Much like an actual Porsche, its innards are whats important and the Huawei Mate RS features a Kirin 970 chipset, complete with a neural processing unit (NPU). This makes the Huawei Mate RS an AI-powered device, which will look to enhance its overall smartphone experience. It constantly learns, understands and adapts according to your usage over time, making it a personal assistant that you can fit in your pocket. The phone also come with 6GB RAM and 256GB of non-expandable internal storage.
On the front sits a 6-inch 2K curved OLED FullView display panel, coupled with an 8-edged curved 3D glass body. This gives it a 2,880 x 1,440 pixel resolution with 538 ppi and 83.93% screen-to-body ratio. Aside from that, the Huawei Mate RS is also the first Huawei smartphone to come with wireless charging technology to recharge its 4,000mAh battery.
Entertainment is also a key factor for the Huawei Mate RS as it’ll come with dual super linear system (SLS) speakers with Dolby Atmos. Another nifty feature is its IP67 rating and it will come with Android 8.1 Oreo.
Hopefully, the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS will be available on 3 April 2018 alongside the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro. The phone is also only available in black.
