Bandai Namco, Google Cloud Launch New Cross-Platform Dragon Ball Game

Bandai Namco Entertainment has unveiled DRAGON BALL GEKISHIN SQUADRA, the first original Dragon Ball smartphone title in seven years, developed in partnership with Google Cloud. The free-to-play, team-based action game is available worldwide from 10 September 2025 on iOS, Android, PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5/4, supporting nine languages including English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Japanese.

The game introduces four-vs.-four team battles, where players cooperate to break through enemy territory and secure the Dragon Ball. Designed for a global audience, it delivers seamless cross-platform play and aims to provide an “anywhere, with anyone” experience.

Bandai Namco utilised Google Cloud’s scalable infrastructure to manage global servers, ensure reliable cross-progression, and optimise low-latency matchmaking. Key services include Agones and Google Kubernetes Engine for server management, Spanner for distributed player data, and Memorystore for Redis to reduce matchmaking wait times. Post-launch, BigQuery and Looker will allow data-driven analysis of player behaviour and gameplay trends.

“This project required a partner that went beyond a typical vendor relationship, and Google Cloud’s deep collaboration was a key reason this game came to be,” said Toshitaka Tachibana, chief producer at Bandai Namco Entertainment.

Jack Buser, global director for Games at Google Cloud, added, “Bandai Namco’s vision for a massive, global, cross-platform title required an infrastructure that could perform flawlessly at scale… we are proud to provide the technology and collaborative spirit to help bring this exciting new Dragon Ball experience to millions of fans around the world.”
