Google Expands the ‘Just A Line’ Experimental App onto iPhone

In March, Google launched Just a Line, an experimental Android app. Just A Line lets you draw in the air with your device, allowing all your imagination to go through. People seem to love it too; since the launch, people have been posting thousands of drawings on Instagram and Twitter with the hashtag #justaline.

Google are continuing the experiment as they release a version of Just a Line for the iPhone. Furthermore, this update also sees a new feature for both Android and iOS that lets you draw with a friend. This makes Just a Line the first app that lets two people create together in AR at the same time.

All you have to do is just put two phones side-by-side and tap the partner icon in the app. You and your friend will be able to see and contribute to the same drawing once the phones are connected. Create some great pieces of work and show them off online!

We first saw a sneak peek of the new update a few weeks ago at Google I/O. Sadly, not every Android device can support this experimental app. You’re going to need Android machines that support ARCore to run it, while the latest iPhones should support it too. You can get the app on the Play Store as well as the iOS App Store. Moreover, if you’re a developer you can check out the open-source code for Android and iOS.  You can then learn to add shared AR experiences into your own app using ARCore’s Cloud Anchors.
