KUALA LUMPUR, October 17, 2023 – The Shell NXplorers 2023 Peninsular Malaysia Challenge concluded today, with SMK Bandar Puncak Jalil’s Team Tri-C-Cle emerging as the champion and SMK Aminuddin Baki’s JAM securing the runner-up position.

Both schools have earned the opportunity to represent Peninsular Malaysia in the national finals scheduled for November 8, 2023, in Kuala Lumpur.

The Shell NXplorers initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, has engaged over 1000 secondary school students from 26 schools across Malaysia, providing hands-on STEM learning with a focus on technology.

This year’s Peninsular Malaysia challenge witnessed the participation of eight schools, with students showcasing innovative solutions within the food-water-energy nexus.

The winning team, Tri-C-Cle, developed the Voice Guardian, a safety mobile app equipped to swiftly connect with emergency services using a specific voice command.

The participants from SMK Aminuddin Baki, JAM’s invention, Sookad, presented a sophisticated AI-based database system aimed at optimising student attendance management.

Additionally, the Tryhard Technicians from SMK Damansara Utama received the Most Innovative Award for their invention, ReOilution, a user-friendly device facilitating the safe assessment and disposal of used cooking oil.

This program globally empowers young individuals to address contemporary challenges through collaboration, innovation, and interdisciplinary approaches.
