Just this morning we announced the impending closure of GTower Hotel in Jalan Tun Razak Kuala Lumpur and last week Kinta Riverfront declared that it could not operate any longer, just like a domino, now Ipoh’s Syeun Hotel has issued a notice to its staff that it too will be close down by the end of May.

In a notice that was circulating social media, the letter signed by the hotel’s director Loh Sow Chee, said the company has suffered since the last three years even before pandemic had arrived.

The notice further pointed out that the management was unable to conduct business and with the MCO being further extended, it would prove to be a struggle for business to go on.

“A sharp decline in demand for hotel accommodation and our other facilities caused the sales turnover to drop to a significant low where we could not afford to stretch our financial capabilities, ” the letter said.

The management said in the notice arrangements would be made to pay its 155 staff salary up to and including May 31 plus other applicable remuneration.

Syuen Ipoh, a 4 star hotel is situated just 10 kilometres from the Lost World of Tambun a popular water theme park in Perak, the hotel is known for its large ballrooms often used for weddings. The closure will be deeply felt by city, the towering structure first opened its doors in 1993.
