Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition Confirmed To Start June 9th; More Indie Darlings

Valve has confirmed their Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition, slated to run from June 9 to June 14 this year. This was announced by Geoff Keighley on Twitter with very limited information, but promises more news coming soon about plans for the summer.

Steam’s Game Festival is more so catered for indie game developers as a platform to show off their latest titles and some even debut via a demo. It gives gamers a good sense of what the expect to come out of the indie scene. Developers are currently able to register for the festival, so as of now, we don’t really know who or what’s coming up this time around.

Though I will say, I do like indie games, so for me personally, this is great. Indies give you a different experience as opposed to AAA games which often follow certain forumlas for success. Even with the last Steam Game Festival: Spring Edition, I was very into the concept of Haven which was showed off then.

Haven is a survival RPG where you control a couple navigating the wild on another planet. As the couple, you’ll need to cook, fight aliens, get supplies, and just survive. It’s a pretty refreshing concept, to me anyways.

These are the kind of games these festivals typically showcase. Let’s wait on more news to come out, so we can get hyped on a new indie darling for the summer.
