It’s showtime! Persona 5 Royal is finally coming to western shores from Japan, and will be releasing 31st March 2020. The game will come with different editions such as the Phantom Thieves Edition, Launch Edition, and special digital bundles. If you played Persona 5, you’ll understand why I’m hyped for the game. It really is just a great time, because last time I played I was fully immersed in the universe, and living as a Phantom Thief. I was so invested to the point I felt I was protagonist, Joker, and every decision he made was my own.
The game’s digital pre-orders will come with an original Persona 5 Royal theme, along with all the original Persona 5 DLC. If you wanted to get the game, but were unsure how great it’d be considering you’ve already played, here’s some of the major differences from the original game.
The biggest addition will be the new Phantom Thief, Kasumi Yoshizawa. She’s been featured heavily in the marketing for the new game, and it seems that she’ll play a big role in the update to the highly popular RPG. There’s also a new confidant, Takuto Maruki. He’s going to take on the role of school counselor to help students deal with trauma from an incident that happens at the school. Confidants in the Persona franchise are basically NPCs who you develop relationships with. These relationships will then in turn grant you new abilities. It’s a nice touch to make the game more immersive, and engaging.
These are just the more important aspects in the new Royal version of the game. There’s going to be new mechanics, palaces, places to explore, and more. I’m just low-key (not really) SUPER hyped for this game. Even though it’s a lot of the repeated missions, and story lines, it’s been long enough that I could’ve forgotten some of it. It’s gonna be a nice way to refresh, get back into the game, and relive the life of a Phantom Thief. With the new stuff included, of course.
