Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League MY/SG is Back For Its Third Season
With over 1000 teams registering for Season 3, four teams have secured the sought after spots in the ten team league after two weeks of intense qualifiers. Teams ICON MY, Mysterious Assassin (MYA) and Xpax X-Assins from Malaysia and MPL debutant NARA Esports will now join the six directly invited teams in the regular season of the league, which kicks off this month.
Drama During the Qualifiers
With such high stakes, the qualifying rounds of the tournament played out like a Korean drama, with accusations of cheating via “jockeying” or “piloting”, which is where players hire foreign representatives to play in their place in online qualifier matches, being thrown around.
Response from Moonton
According to the developer, new guidelines will be introduced for the upcoming Regular Season to combat this. “As the developer of Mobile Legends, Moonton is strongly against any form of cheating as it goes against our ideals of integrity and sportsmanship. We have taken measure to introduce new regulations that will prevent future incidents, and they will be rolled out in the updated official rule book which is taking effect from this Regular Season onwards.” said Logan Shaw, Tournament Director.
Regular Season Breakdown and Incentives
Prize Pool: US$100,000
Format: Round robin best-of-3 with a total of US$48,000 up for grabs
Win Reward per Game: US$200
Weekly Allowance: US$350 (an increase from last seasons US$300)
MVP of The League: US$500
Highest KDA (Kill-Death-Assist) Ratio: US$500 + Regular Season King of KDA award
The Regular Season will be played over six consecutive weeks every Friday to Sunday from the 1st of March onward. The bottom two teams at the end of the season will be eliminated, leaving 8 teams advancing to the Playoffs on the 20th-21st of April 2019, happening at Blue Atrium, Sunway Pyramid.
