Nike recently released a ‘smart’ shoe, designed to lace itself up, adjusts the lacing and pressure and fit accordingly with the user’s foot. The technical aspect comes from the ability to adjust said laces, all from an app on your phone. There are no laces to manually tie or even to somewhat adjust and therefore left consumers shoeless with their brand new RM 1425 smart shoes.

Directly inspired from the Back To The Future Movies, the inability to tie one’s shoes seems more like a Step into The Past.

The issue seems to be prominent on the Android space, as Nike seems to not have QA tested as thoroughly as their iOS counterpart, and it also seems that there are certain features related to the being able to set tightness presets within the app itself.

This has led consumers to take their frustrations out on the Nike Adapt Google Playstore page, bombing them with negative reviews leading to a 2.3 star rating.

Some users are complaining about the left and right shoe not pairing,  or errors displaying that says the app is connected to another pair of shoes.

Taking all of these things into account, maybe the ‘smart’ shoe isn’t a viable or ready market for the world yet. But it sure is funny thinking about people not being able to put their shoes on in the morning because their phone literally wouldn’t let them.
