Astro is moving away from just being a gaming event broadcaster into tournament sponsors, under its 24/7 gaming channel eGG, the satelite private channel is partnering with Moonton developer of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, to present the first ever Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) for mobile gamers in Malaysia and Singapore.

After the Mobile Legends SEA Cup which saw a strong interest for tournaments on mobile devices, the league will be the first of its kind specifically curated for mobile phone gamers, a genre growing steadily with the advent of better devices. The tournament will span over 20 weeks starting from November to March 2018 starting with open qualifiers, regular season and the playoffs. Winners can vie for US$100,000 prize pool with the grand prize winner taking home US$20,000.
