Apple and lawsuits are as common talapias in a Chinese restaurant, with an on going legal battle that is not abating (Qualcomm), the phone maker has just been ordered by a US judge to pay RM2.17 billion (US$506 million) for patent infringement. This time to an university!

University of Wisconsin Madison was earlier seeking half of the amount but the judge doubled the compensation when Apple continued to use the technology which relates to computer processing. The alleged crime took place in iPhones with processors found in some version uses this patent to improve overall performance of the processor.

In is bid to throw the case out, Cuppertino lawyers went to the extent of questioning the validity of the patent and requested the patent office to review the 1998 registered patent. The bid however was rejected.
