Xiaomi are not slowing down with their new mobile launches at all. Following the release of the Redmi Note 5, Xiaomi are now launching the Mi 6X in China. Its predecessor, the 5X, eventually became the Mi A1 for the Malaysian market; it’s widely speculated this could be launched as the Mi A2 for the global market. Some of the highlights of the Mi 6x aka Mi A2 include a Snapdragon 660 system-on-chip, dual 12+20-megapixel cameras, and perhaps most intriguingly, no 3.5mm earphone jack.

The Mi 6X has an 18:9, 2160 x 1080 LCD screen, following the recent trends in smartphones. It also has a USB-C port, a fingerprint sensor and no headphone jack. This makes it the first Xiaomi phone with no 3.5mm headphone jack; it will instead use the Type-C port for audio. A Snapdragon 660 processor – one of the best in the Snapdragon 600-series – powers the Mi 6X. It comes with a dual-camera 20+12-megapixel setup and a 20-megapixel selfie camera with flash. The Mi 6X weighs 166g and is 7.3mm thick. Battery-wise, it has a3010 mAh battery and comes with QC 3.0, allowing up to 50% charge in 30 minutes. Colour variants include: black, red, blue, gold, and pink.
Xiaomi announced the price as starting from CNY1,599, rising to CNY1,999 for higher spec variants. Whether or not it comes to Malaysia as the Xiaomi Mi A2 remains to be seen, but if it does arrive here, it’s price could be just RM999 based on rough conversions. This might make the Mi 6X aka Mi A2 one of the best smartphones out there for its price.
