According to WCCFTech, we may be seeing the 9th Gen Intel Core products sometime this October. The new family consists of the Core i5, i7 and i9 processors; all of which will be produced using the 14nanometre (nm) manufacturing process.

The highest model, the Intel Core i9 processor, is expected to ship with 8 cores with Hyperthreading, resulting in 16 threads on tap. Tentatively named as Core i9-9900K, the processor will be unlocked and will run up to 4.7GHz. It should feature 16MB of L3 cache memory and feature the Intel UHD 620 graphics processor on board. The base close of the chip is set at 3.6GHz, with boost going all the way to 4.7GHz. All of these features will be on a 95watt package, so power consumption should not be too extreme.

Next is the Intel Core i7-9700K, yet another unlocked processor. This time the chip will have 8 cores and 8 threads, with no Hyperthreading. with 12MB of L3 cache and a base/boost clock of 3.6GHz/4.9Ghz respectively, the new i7 should deliver some impressive benchmark numbers, as well as day-to-day performance. However the lack of multiple threads running may be a contention point for some customers.

Lastly the Intel Core i5-9600K will be unlocked out of the box, and feature 6 cores and 6 threads. The base/boost clocks for the new chip will be at 3.7GHz and up to 4.6Ghz, although the high boost will only for a single core at a time. The 9MB L3 cache should help in maintaining good performance while crunching numbers and running apps; the lack of multi-threads may also be a problem for customers looking to run apps supporting multiple threads running concurrently.

The Core i7 and i5 will also be on a 95Watt TDP. Intel for once will have decent support for older chips as the new processors will be usable on current 300-series motherboard already in the market. As nothing is confirmed as of yet, take this news with a grain of salt.
