2019 has been one hell of a year for smartphone manufacturers. From ZTE almost going bankrupt, to Huawei trying and failing to take over the world, to Samsung shooting themselves in the foot yet again, it’s almost like as if no one actually wants to become the #1 smartphone manufacturer in the world.
You’d think Apple would capitalize on the respective crises of their competitors but it looks like the Cupertino company have their own problems to deal with. Amid reports that iPhones all have a security flaw and news of dwindling sales, renders of the company’s upcoming iPhone 11 have leaked online in recent weeks and I have to say, it’s not looking good for all you Apple fanboys.
Popular Youtuber EverythingApplePro has pretty much confirmed all of our worst fears regarding the design of the upcoming iPhone 11.
Filip Koray from EverythingApplePro has recently managed to get his hands on the retail cases for the iPhone 11 and surprise, surprise, the cases fit perfectly inside molds from the leaked schematics of the upcoming phone. This unfortunately means that all those leaks we’ve seen online about the iPhone 11 are accurate.
Yes. That ugly tri-camera setup that will give anyone with trypophobia a good scare is going into production. Popular tech designer Ben Geskin even built physical models of the phone based on the schematics and renders that leaked. Showing off the designs, Geskin asked his followers “Did you get used to this design already?” an overwhelming majority of the responses were negative. You can find some of the best replies below.

The main problem people seem to have with the phone is the huge camera bump, which is ironic given that the camera is likely to be the headline upgrade in the iPhone 11. But this isn’t the only reason why you should skip out on upgrading to the iPhone 11.
Apple is set to retain it’s signature large notch and bezels in an era where smartphones are going notchless and bezel-less. On top of that, rumour has it that the phone will be heavier than its predecessor, which would be fine and all except for the fact that the iPhone XS Max is already the heaviest flagship smartphone in the world. Add the large camera bulge into the equation and you have yourself a freak show of a phone.
You’d think that would be the end of it, but no. I’ve saved the best for last. Apple’s 2019 models will not be coming with 5G. Acclaimed industry insider Ming-Chi Kuo has leaked Apple’s upcoming plans and it looks like their 2020 models are the ones that will be getting all the love.
According to Kuo, the models that will be coming out in 2020 will be the first ones with a major design change since 2017’s iPhone X. He went on to state that Apple will resize it’s premium models, with the 5.8 inch models shrinking to 5.4 inches and the 6.5 inch XS Max to increasing to 6.7 inches. There will apparently also be a punch hole display in all 2020 models.
Convinced yet? Well you should be!
Regardless, it’s been years since Apple released any “new” tech that isn’t already a year old. Heck, they’ve even made a habit of charging premium prices for it. At the end of the day, people still flock to buy their products anyway so I suppose this news is of little consequence. It really should be though.
