You know that annoying red Facebook notification dot that seems to be an eternal installment in your Facebook app because it’s for some stupid marketplace notification that you don’t even care about and every time you open it, it’s only for the sake of making it go away but then 2 minutes later you get another one? Well it will soon be a thing of the past!

The social network has confirmed that it will be rolling out an update that will give users more room to breathe by allowing them to customize what exactly appears on the shortcut bar at the bottom of the app. The feature, which will be come to iOS first followed by an Android roll out will see a new “Manage shortcut bar” option appearing when you press and hold on any of the buttons in the bar.

Don’t use Facebook Marketplace at all? You can now remove the entire tab. Don’t want to get notifications from groups anymore? Silent the damn thing. The choice is all yours to truly make the shortcut bar your own now.

The Facebook family of apps seem to be trying and testing a lot of new features aimed at promoting your digital well being, which is great and all but would the company really do anything that promotes less screen time? Of course not. People have probably had it with all these pointless notifications and Facebook see’s that. The less annoyed people are, the more time they’ll spend on the app, right?
