Netflix has just made a number of its documentaries free for everyone to watch on YouTube.

You can find all the documentaries by Netflix on their official YouTube page. They have quite a number of episodes up already, including ones from its critically acclaimed Our Planet documentary series.

The move from Netflix is due to requests from teachers in the US. Prior to this, Netflix has allowed its teachers to screen its documentaries in classrooms.

Now, however, with lockdowns and restricted movement orders placed, that is no longer possible. So, to make up for that, Netflix decides the next best thing is to put on YouTube for easy access.

So not only are teachers in the US able to make online learning interesting, but many others around the globe will also get to make use of this free content that has generously been made available by Netflix.

Apart from Our Planet, Netflix has made shows like Abstract, Babies and Explained free to watch on its YouTube channel. Some of these shows provide full access to an entire season’s worth of content, while some only provide select episodes.

Some of these documentaries are ones that explore nature, while others, like 13th, focus on matters like social issues, poverty, racism, etc. All of which is certainly of good educational value for not just those in school, but even for adults.

It’s not clear if these shows will stay on Netflix’s YouTube page or if it will be removed at a later time. These shows are currently available in English, with a dozen more languages coming later this week.
