If you’ve been an avid gamer of Pokemon Go, you may wanna try Vatican’s new game. Vatican has announced the release of their first ever game, Follow JC Go. The game is based on the famous augmented reality (AR) game, Pokemon Go. Pokemon Go was released in 2016 and received and overwhelming number of users. Will the Vatican’s Follow JC Go be able to receive such a warm welcome?
The game works similarly to Pokemon Go, except that it doesn’t use Pokeballs. In the game, you will collect saints and Biblical figures to form a squad. Your squad will be the most evangelized squad that follows Jesus Christ together. You will have to care for your squad’s nutrition, hydration and “prayer counts” by collecting special objects. In addition to that, you can also visit hospitals to say prayers for the ill and entering churches when you pass one.
An evangelical group, Fundación Ramón Pané developed the game which costs USD500,000. It took them 2 years and 32,000 hours to develop. Apparently, 20 percent of the people who are under 25 years old stopped going to Catholic Churches. Follow JC Go is a move by the Vatican to ensure their preachers continue preaching. It is without a doubt that the game is designed to target young people.
Despite the fact that Pope Francis never watches television since the 1990, he surprisingly keeps up with latest technologies. We all know Pope is one of the most religious person and he himself is a fan of this game. Unfortunately for most of us, the game is currently available only in Italy and Spain. We’ll have to wait for news if the game will be launched in other parts of the world. The game is available in both iOS and Android platform for download.
