Yoodo Launching Malaysia’s First Interactive Online Concert; Are Digital Concerts The Way To Go Now?

Yoodo, Malaysia’s first digital and customisable mobile service, is launching ‘Yoodo Presents’ a first of its kind interactive online concert series with local indie bands. Yoodo Presents begins on 6 June and will feature live performances from Malaysian indie bands each Thursday at 9 p.m. The interactive online concerts will be showcased on Yoodo’s official Facebook page where fans can listen and watch and also interact with the band to win some Yoodo merchandise.

Head of Yoodo, Chow Tuck Mun shared “We are happy to announce Yoodo Presents and to bring entertainment and excitement to our Yoodo users as well as all Malaysians. Malaysia has many talented musicians and we are thrilled to be able to provide a platform for them to reach out to audiences in a new and unique way.”

The full line up and dates for Yoodo Presents are as follows:

  •  6th June 2019 : Modescape
  • 13th June 2019 : An Honest Mistak
  • 20th June 2019 : A.Ron
  •  27th June 2019 : Battle Bloom
  •  4th July 2019 : Nadhira
  •  11th July 2019 : Sevencollar T-Shirt

This to me, is slightly reminiscent of when Marshmello did a concert in Fortnite. I mean, I guess it’s the same concept, but maybe it’ll spawn a new subset of concerts? Or maybe pay-per-view concerts where you literally pay, just to watch a stream. It’s not as ridiculous as it sounds, because we do it for sports, the news, and pretty much anything Live. But an online concert, still seems a bit meh. It takes away from the experience, I feel. But for these indie bands, it’s a chance to showcase themselves, so this is still a step in the right direction.

It’s only a matter of time before everything we do is fully digital anyway, so might as well, right?
