With Yakuza 6: The Song of Life set to launch globally in mid-April 2018, Sega ramps up the hype; it does so by doing the uncommon: producing live-action trailers. Beyond the usual round of media reviews and direct advertising, the Japanese gangster game has tapped on old acquaintances. For long-time fans of Yakuza, all will remember these characters as they share their experience about the Dragon of Dojima. All three short clips are now out.

Each of the three live-action trailers discuss about the justice and positive strength that Kazuma Kiryu exudes. Of course, this includes what he did to help them. To them, it’s as if he is dishing out his own brand of justice; yet it is something they can all relate to. The story starts with Yuina, a respected club owner that many will recognize from Yakuza Kiwami. She shares of the control and respect her bar now enjoys thanks to Kiryu’s affirmative actions as her one-time bouncer.

The narrative then switches over to Haruka of Yakuza 5, not the Haruka that is Kiryu looking for. She recalls of her short adventure that one evening while running away from home. She chanced on a couple of goons who want to hurt a puppy; it’s then when Kiryu appeared out of nowhere and took them out. The next, and final, character is Tatsu – also from Yakuza Kiwami. This episode shows the true heroism of Kiryu adheres to. Furthermore, of the three, this one showcases how important the Dragon of Dojima is to the commonfolk.

All three reintroduce and remind all who Kiryu is and what he is like underneath all that gritty mannerism. They are perfect as throwback preludes for Yakuza 6: The Song of Life before the game makes its worldwide debut. To-date, it is one of the top-selling titles for Japan and in Asia as well. For those who want to re-visit the world of Yakuza, then these three mini-series episodes are a must.

The official word from Sony Interactive Entertainment confirms Yakuza 6: Song of Life will globally debut on April 17 2018.
