After launching the Redmi 5 late last year, Xiaomi had been watching on the sidelines as the juggernauts of Apple and Samsung slug out with back to back flagship releases. The Redmi 5, an entry level smartphone was released with a modest Snapdragon 635 chip and 12Mp camera housed in a 5.7 inch display.

Waiting for the dust to settle as customers take in all the media fanfare for iPhone X and Galaxy Note 8, Xiaomi quietly now introduces the  Redmi Note 5 Pro a supposedly better performing large screen device with ample battery power and new chipset with the new Snapdragon 636 chip. The rear camera module similar to iPhone X (Xiaomi was never afraid to copy what Apple does) the 12 megapixel + 5 megapixel sits on top of each other at the rear and come with two different aperture setting. For some reason the Shenzhen tech company placed a 20MP camera for the front especially for the Indian market with extra lighting…a whopping 4500k LED light, and called it for clearer selfies and naturally improved complexion photos.

No fancy OLED, just your garden variety full HD display 2160 x 1080 with extra aspect ration of 18:9 maximising screen space. It gets MIUI 9 on Android Nougat and will be available for the India parmet before arriving anywhere else.
