Xiaomi Mi A1 Is Now Available for RM 1,099

After announcing their first Xiaomi Android One smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi A1 recently – the company has made it officially available here in Malaysia for only RM 1,099.

Featuring a 5.5-inch 2.5D curved glass screen featuring Corning Gorilla Glass protection, Mi A1 also boasts a 10v power amplifier for deeper lows and higher volumes, ensuring it provides an immersive media experience. A dedicated amplifier also provides support for high-impedance headphones (up to 600 ohms). Charging is done through the USB Type-C connector.

The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, and comes with a 3080mAh battery that is said to last a whole day without charging. While there is no wireless charging, the phone supports QuickCharge 2.0 for fast charging. The Malaysian retail unit will be the 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage combo.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 features dual-camera, with both sensors using 12MP sensors. The wide-angle sensor features 1.25μm pixels for better light gathering in low-light situation, while the telephoto lens works like a 50mm DSLR lens a true 2x optical zoom experience.

For Android purists, the Xiaomi Mi A1 is the best option to own as it is a stock Android smartphone, with guaranteed support from Google in terms of upgrades and security patches. It is currently running Android 7.1.4, but it will be able to be upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo once it is officially out – and Xiaomi even said that the phone will support Android P, which is slated to be made available next year.

Available in Black, Gold and Rose Gold, Mi A1 has an attractive full-metal body design that measures just 7.3mm in thickness, with discreet separation lines for a seamless look and rounded edges for great hand feel. It also comes with a rear fingerprint sensor.

It is now available from online retailers like Lazada, retail channels as well as authorised dealers. It is priced at only RM 1,099.
