Last night, we stayed up to bring you the latest on EVERYTHING Apple announced in their WWDC keynote. Now, here are the details to the stuff that matters.

Rumours of the “Apple Speakers” has been laid to rest after Apple announced HomePods. Made to work with Apple Music, they are wireless voice control speakers standing at 7 inches tall. It’s powered by an A8 chip, and runs with Siri.

It is it comes with Apple-designed woofer for deep, clean bass, a custom array of seven beam-forming tweeters that provide pure high frequency acoustics with directional control. The HomePods is said to use spatial awareness to sense its location in a room and automatically adjust the audio. Fitted with six microphones with advanced echo cancellation; Apple claims that HomePod can understand people whether they are near the device or standing across the room, even while loud music is playing.

Siri can perform as she would as an assistant – send messages, get updates on news, sports and weather, or control smart home devices. HomePod provides remote access and home automation through the Home app on iPhone or iPad. Apple notes that only after “Hey Siri” is recognized locally on the device will any information be sent to Apple servers, encrypted and sent using an anonymous Siri identifier.

We have no information on many questions – including, whether third party apps can be integrated, or if it supports multi users? Guess we will have to wait until its release later this year.

HomePod will be available for US$349 (approx RM 1500)  in white and space gray starting in December initially in Australia, the UK and the US. HomePod is compatible with iPhone 5s and later, running iOS 11.
