MWC 2016: Sony Unveils “X” Series Smartphones

Sony Mobile Communications announced yesterday of a new-look Xperia smartphone for the future of communications, with added ambient connected devices, capable of changing the way you interact with the world.

Hiroki Totoki, President and CEO at Sony Mobile Communications said: “Sony Mobile will continue to create increasingly personalised and intelligent products and services that empower you to do more, and live more creatively than ever. Our products and services will connect you to each other and become essential and beloved parts of your lives.”

Sony is said to improve two most commonly features that users care above all, which is, battery life and camera. The new X series comes with smart battery management to help deliver up to two days of battery life per full charge. The phone will also feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor and 820 processor for ultra-fast connectivity.

In terms of the design of the smartphone, Sony designers used premium materials, texture and curvature to ensure a natural palm fit. Xperia X, Xperia X Performance and Xperia XA each have its own range of matching Style Covers and will roll out in four finishes; White, Graphite Black, Lime Gold, and Rose Gold starting from the Summer of 2016.

Apart from smartphones, Sony also introduced Xperia Ear, a next-generation wireless ear-piece that brings Sony’s voice technology and can be responded with verbal commands. It will be connected to your Android smartphone via NFC or Bluetooth, and you can now customise the setting for the ear-piece. It is also equipped with IPX2 water-protection and all-day battery life. Xperia Ear is said to roll out by Summer of 2016.

Along with other smart products introduced by Sony at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) are Xperia Projector, Xperia Eye, Xperia Agent and RM-X7BT in-car Bluetooth.

Titoki added on: “With our continued passion for technology, we will keep adding new and exciting features to evolve our smartphones. At the same time, we want to change how you access information and interact with friends and family in a closer, natural and more meaningful way.”

These products are said to be release in the Summer of 2016, whereas Malaysia, the pricing and availability will be confirmed soon.
