Wiko Making Big Moves In 2019

Wiko’s New View 3 Phone

Obscurely known in Malaysia, smartphone company Wiko announces some big moves for the brand at MWC 2019 (Mobile World Congress). Going through a transformation of their image Wiko has redone their logo and announced their next generation of smartphones, the View 3 and the View 3 Pro.

Besides the new lineup and brand image refresh, Wiko also announced their move into the North American market. Wiko’s strongest presence has been in Western Europe but over the years expanded in over 30 countries.

In Asia, Europe, Middle East and Africa.  Wiko will be entering the North American market with Sprint, the 4th largest mobile operator in the U.S.

Their new phones the View 3 and View 3 Pro seem to have some pretty decent specs:

View3

  • 6.26 inch HD+ display.
  • Triple rear camera with  12MP+13MP+2MP and a 8MP front camera.
  • Mediatek Helio P22 Octa-core processor.
  • 64GB/3GB ROM RAM and support of microSD cards upto 256GB .
  • 4000mAh battery
  • Face Unlock and fingerprint sensor.

View3 Pro

  • 6.3 inch and FHD+ display.
  • Triple rear camera with  12MP+13MP+5MP and a 16MP front camera.
  • Mediatek Helio P60 Octa-core processor.
  • 128GB/6GB ROM RAM or 64GB/4GB ROM RAM and support of microSD cards upto 256GB.
  • 4000mAh battery
  • Face Unlock, fingerprint sensor, NFC and USB type C.

With that being said, how it performs is still to be seen. While the company has to compete with major brands in Malaysia which are dominant such as Apple, Samsung, Vivo, Oppo and countless others. Another brand coming into the fold could be a good thing but might drown in the abundance of smartphones in the market.

Wiko’s View3 and View3 Pro are currently not for sale in Malaysia, but the Europe prices are as follows:

  • Wiko View3 – EUR 179 (RM 830)
  • Wiko View3 Pro 64GB/4GB RAM – EUR 249 (RM 1,150)
  • Wiko VIew3 Pro 128GB/6GB RAM – EUR 299 (RM 1,380)
