While many people don’t see the need for a mouse pad, as long as they are not using glass tables, gamers like me always feel the need to have one. Does using one actually make a difference or is it just placebo effect? I think that many of us like using mouse pads simply because they are comfortable for our wrist, and really, having one does wonders with keeping your desk and the underside of your mouse clean. So it was with glee when I got to review a Cooler Master CM Storm Swift-RX.

Just enough space

An alternative to the Speed-RX, the Swift-RX is available in three sizes. The smallest one that Cooler Master sent to us isn’t quite what I’m used to, but it’s not hard to adjust to it. A smaller mouse pad is enough for some, since they can just make repeat movement over larger ones. Others want a larger space to avoid just that, such as artists who use a mouse to draw instead of tablets.

Smooth operation

Now I have a highly tunable gaming mouse so space really isn’t a problem. With DPI up to 12,000 (as ridiculous as that is) and high sensitivity for my peripheral, plus the smooth low-friction material of the Swift-RX, I could run a triple monitor setup and still swipe the mouse cursor from one end to the other quickly.
