Which Games Made the Most Money On Steam in 2016?

Valve has compiled the top 100 grossing titles in 2016, and the list holds few surprises. They’ve classified sellers into 4 categories, but have chosen not to reveal actual numbers at this time:
– Platinum: The first thru 12th best seller
– Gold: 13th – 24th best seller
– Silver: 25th – 40th top seller
– Bronze: 41st – 100th top seller

The list is based on total revenues during the calendar year, and comes on the final day of the annual Steam Winter Sale.

Unsurprisingly, the big names made the most money. GTA V continues to bring in the big bucks more than a year since its PC release, DOTA 2 and CS GO are joined by Rocket League on the online front. Strategy games like Civ VI, Total War: Warhammer and XCOM 2 still get the attention they deserve. Isolation-friendly Dark Souls III, Witcher III Wild Hunt and Fallout 4 manage to squeeze into the list too.

Lower down the list, we see Dishonored 2 sitting under a list of relatively unknown games. A relatively late release and low popularity can be blamed for this great sequel.

Call of Duty Infinite Warfare gets plonked right at the bottom of the list. Sure, a late release can be partially blamed for that, but the high price tag, lack of real innovation and stale nature of new ‘Call of Duty’ games definitely played a part.
