WhatsApp just revealed a list of mobile operating systems that will no longer include support for the messaging platform. For Android 2.3.7 and iOS 7 and older will end in February 2020 while all Windows Phone operating systems will lose support at the end of 2019. Users will not be able to use WhatsApp on older Android and Apple devices in the near future. This isn’t new for WhatsApp as it has previously announced to cease to function with BlackBerry devices and older Nokia phones in 2016.

“Because we will no longer actively develop for these platforms, some features may stop functioning at any time,” the company noted in an updated blog post. It’s suspected that the company is currently developing a Windows-optimised version of the messaging service.
