During the last network showcase presentation at Webe headquarters in PJ, a journalists inquired about the possibility of TM using the wireless service from the telco in offering home broadband. To which CMO, Lau Shu Wei who paused and was about to utter only to be stopped by his public relations team from continuing. With smirk, the media was left with the notion that an announcement on the service will be not too long.
A day before Christmas, the 4G carrier, who started life just two months ago with simple with never-ending data, voice and SMS, has now introduced webe for home with broadband service at a flat rate RM59. A strategy long time in the works, with the new service, TM can new reach to remote community who have difficulty in accessing internet, a bane the parent company could now sort out.
As such, webe’s new broadband plan now complements and strengthens TM Group’s suite of broadband offerings to consumers; and connect Malaysians in the areas not reachable by TM broadband solutions, UniFi and Streamyx. Maintaining the simplicity in its offerings, new broadband service has no activation fee and no contract cited Shu Wei.
The new postpaid service is priced at RM59 per month for 10GB data and is available in the form of a data SIM card. Members will enjoy internet connectivity with their supported devices. And for limited promotional period, the telco is offering early birds who sign up an additional 20GB data per month till the end of February 2017, and a waiver of RM50 one-time activation fee; however, the RM50 upfront fee will still be applicable during sign-up. Each member can register for up to three broadband lines per account.
Upon successful registration, the broadband SIM card can be delivered to customers doorstep, or members can choose to collect it at their preferred webe lounge at Sunway Pyramid Selangor, Queensbay Mall Penang or JBCC Johor.
