Being late to the game isn’t always a set back, having to catch up 20 years of what the competition have build, could be overwhelming for some, but not for the new wireless telecommunication player in town, Webe.

At a recent technology showcase at their newly refurbished headquarters along Federal Highway, Webe management team took it upon to share their deployment road map for 2017 to a selected group of journalists. Speaking during the session, Chief Technology Officer Shurish Subbramaniam shared the company’s 4G coverage proposition and the spectrum strengths the network is build on.

“Webe is the only network in Malaysia able to deploy both FDD850MHz for improved indoor network penetration and TDD2300MHz to provide overall good user experience. We combined these technologies so that users get the best of both user experience and coverage,” said Shurish. A point to note here, these are full 4G digital roll-out which can reach speeds up to 300 Mbps. In comparison we would have heard of the big three’s network rationalisation exercise recently whereby these telco’s are just converting their legacy 2G and HSPA to either 3G or 4G speeds in selected central locations.

Demonstrating the experience, we were presented with flat screen TV’s showing Netflix programs streamed on the wireless network which can be deployed to remote areas like Yong Peng or Alor Gajah where it could have been difficult to lay fixed broadband lines.

Having already had a couple of session with the top management team and the genuine candid forthcoming by the CEO, CMO and CTO, we have come to realise how webe is paying close attention to customers needs and takes feedback’s constructively and acts on it. One example is how the pricing was reduced from RM199 to RM79 albeit promotional and have positively taken comments for the reduction of the RM6 tethering fees.

Despite just 2 months of launching, the learning curve has been quick and decisive and we are looking forward to next year, as Webe promises for exciting plans and new digital services rolled out.
