Now after a while, everyone realises that there really many differences between Lumia devices in the entry or midrange besides physical appearances. So we were curious to know what’s different about the Microsoft Lumia 532.
A display in rarity
Almost immediately, I spotted the usual bright coloured back cover, a design that Microsoft favours for its Lumia devices. It’s particularly solid on the 532, thanks to the hard plastic covering the edges. Prying the cover open, I found the microSD and two 3G SIM slots, all of which can be accessed by removing the battery. The SIM card slots are secured by a latch mechanism.
Mini work station
Now this phone uses a 4:3 display ratio, which is great when doing your documents on the go, or for reading. There’s even a “Sunlight Readability” option, so it’s clear the device was built with those in mind. In practice, however, typing on such a small device isn’t easy if you have larger hands like mine. I got used to it after some time, but I believe that reading emails and documents would be the device’s common usage. It doesn’t work out as well for multimedia, since widescreen displays are better for those and the viewing angles on it are not that great either, so videos can’t be easily shared unless it’s via Miracast.
Solid Entry
There are a few things to point out that makes one appreciate the Lumia 532. First, the phone has a rather ergonomic build, fitting in palms easily. Plus, the battery actually lasts long if it’s used for what it’s intended for. Ergo, no YouTube please. Entry level or not, the Lumia 532 does what it’s made for well and at this price it’s hard to ask for more. Thumbs up for fantastic value.
