Ramadan Mubarak everyone. Hope everyone is staying safe and having a good Ramadan so far. With Raya around the corner, people would want a really good quality phone to take photos, videos, video call relatives and maybe play really heavy video games to occupy the time as well.
We had the opportunity to review one of Oppo’s newest edition which is the Oppo Reno5 5G. This is a long overdue review but it’s not too late to consider it if you’re looking to upgrade from your current phone. As always, we will be looking at design, camera, performance and I will give my final thoughts at the end of the review.
Display and Design
You can never go wrong with black like I always say. The colour on the phone is appropriately called Stary Black as it shines really nice and definitely has a nice feel and look to it. The Oppo Reno5 5G comes with a 6.4” 2400×1080 FHD display with a 91.7% screen to body ratio.
The HD quality on the Oppo Reno5 5G is definitely one of my favourites out there. The colours are striking and I didn’t have to worry about not being able to see without my glasses. I definitely enjoyed my time playing Genshin Impact on this thing. In terms of the touchscreen display, it response super well and super-fast in my personal opinion.
Battery Life
While many phones are coming up with up to 5000 to 6000mAH battery life, the Oppo Reno5 5G comes in at 4300mAH battery life but don’t be frightened my friends as it can still definitely last you the whole day even when you play heavy games on this.
How about charging? The Oppo Reno5 5G comes with the 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging and when I tested it out, I got almost a full charge in just 30 minutes. Here are the screenshots to prove that.
Camera
What Oppo is famous for; the camera. Oppo smartphones have one of the best cameras out there and the Oppo Reno5 5G did not disappoint. The Reno5 5G comes with the 64MP AI Quad Rear Camera (64MP Main Camera, 8MP Ultra Wide-angle, 2MP macro and 2MP micro) and a 32MP front facing camera.
Above are some unedited photos I took with the Oppo Reno5 5G. I was very impressed with the zoom in on this thing. I mean look at that photo.
The video quality is great too as it can shoot up to 4K resolution but if you’re not on the 4K train, that’s fine as the Reno5 5G also record in 1080p FHD quality.
If you wanna spice up your vlogging experience then the Dual-view camera feature will definitely do the job. I was really impressed by this feature of how I could record from the rear and front facing camera at the same time. It’ll be great for daily vlogs to film some fun things and see your reactions to them.
I also love the image stabilisation when filming. The camera doesn’t shake as much which is good cause I get motion sickness pretty easy. You can see more of the video quality in our unboxing video (coming soon).
Performance
The Oppo Reno5 5G runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G and what better way to test a phone’s performance than to play games on it?
Obviously, I played Genshin Impact on the Reno5 5G and I had the best time as it was so smooth. We posted some videos here so you can see for yourself. Quality is not bad but I’d recommend to view these posts on the Twitter app on your phone.

Final Thoughts
So, what do I think of the Oppo Reno5 5G? It’s definitely one of the best smartphones out there and if the quality for the Reno5 5G is this good, then the Reno5 Pro 5G would surely be better.
Honestly, out of all the phones we’ve reviewed so far, this one is the one I really, really wanted to keep. Sadly though, that wasn’t happening but there’s some good news to it too cause for all the things I’ve mentioned about this phone, the Reno5 5G costs at RM 1,899 according to the official website which in my opinion is not bad.
If you’re looking for an upgrade then better save up your Raya money cause this phone is definitely highly recommended by me. Have you got your hands on it? Share us your thoughts too!
