Vivo Y91i, A Budget Hunters Catch

For those who live on a budget that is equal to a church mouse like some of here at PC.com, where every cent spent count, we tend to keep our radars on high alert when there are deals and bargains. Not that we are cheapskates or get paid very little for the work we do (kinda true), its just that we have this inner block that prevents us from buying things that don’t represent the value they are priced for.

So when Vivo announced the arrival of the Vivo Y91i, a budget smartphone that occupies the full extent of your palm with the 6.22 inch display, it got our attention. Firstly the phone was priced at RM599, then there was the end to end screen, bar for the tiny notch housing the pin hole camera, a big phone that requires only 6 RM100 bills…is there a catch somewhere?  No, was the resounding reply, in fact Vivo Malaysia is throwing in a pair of speakers if you get them before the bundle expires. The 4030 mAH battery means longer use time, fingerprint and Face Access…check, super camera 13Mp + 2MP rear capable for bokeh shots…check and 8Mp for the front…check.

While we encourage readers not to compare with the mid tiers or premiums, there are compromises we have to accept for a RM599, there is only 2GB and 3GB RAM option with 16GB or 32GB storage and a passable 2Ghz Snapdragon 439 octacore processor.
