Vivo Malaysia are launching the much anticipated Vivo X21 to our shores! It brings with it a futuristic unlocking experience with an In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology. It’s targeted for the tech-savvy customer, coming with FullView display and AI-photography features too.
“We make it our mission to enhance our customers’ mobile experience through our pursuit for innovation in mobile technology that is most relevant to consumers’ ever-evolving lifestyle. Vivo’s new flagship – the X21 – is a manifestation of this commitment. In fact, through our In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology we are making this secure and intuitive unlocking system more accessible to consumers, so that more people can enjoy this security feature,” says Mike Xu, Vivo Malaysia CEO.
The Vivo X21 features two methods of unlocking the device. First off is the In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology. We first had a glimpse of this way back when it was first a prototype, and now it’s in production. Vivo are replacing the usual rear fingerprint scanner with the fingerprint scanner now underneath the front panel. Furthermore, there’s also a Face Access facial recognition technology for face unlock.
A Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 powers the device, putting it higher than most midrange devices, though it’s still behind the Snapdragon 800-series. You will be please to hear though that the X21 will come with 6GB and 128GB of storage. Funtouch OS 4.0 based on Android 8.1 meanwhile runs as its operating system. It packs a 3200mAh battery though it uses a microUSB port oddly enough. Display-wise, it has a 5.28″ 19:9 FHD+ FullView Display screen. A near-bezelless display means it has a 90.3% screen-to-body ratio. Thanks to P3 display colour management technology it can produce natural and vibrant colours on-screen. The back meanwhile has a 3D glass back cover over the typical metal body. Additionally, the Vivo X21 has a Game Mode feature. This allows the system to optimise the CPU for the best gaming experience available.
As for its cameras, it has a 12MP f/2.0 front camera with dual pixel sensors for all your selfie needs. On top of that, it also has dual rear cameras. The main sensor on the back is a 12MP f/1.8 camera with dual pixel sensors as well. It’s secondary camera is a 5MP f/2.4 camera, there for all your bokeh needs. Vivo have packed in quite a bit of ‘AI’ features into the device as well for improved photography. AI Scene Recognition can detect over 140 different types of scenarios such as landscapes or food. The AI Face Beauty and AI HDR meanwhile identifies your gender, skin tone, and ambient lighting for better images throughout.
The Vivo X21 is priced at RM2,299 and will be available on 9th June 2018. You can get them nationwide at any Vivo concept store as well as authorised reseller.
